The YMCA offers aquatics exercise classes and instructional swim programs for adults. Class size is determined by both safety factors and age of participants and is closely monitored to ensure safety. Private lessons offer swimmers the opportunity to work one-on-one with our excellent instructors.

Aquatic Fitness

Aqua Zumba

Class held in shallow end. A high energy dance themed water exercise class.

Joint Effort

Aquatic exercise program especially designed to help improve muscle strength and flexibility with the aid of the water’s buoyancy. Class held in the Cobb Pool Be our guest and try one class. Call ext. 304.

Swimnastics

Class held in both shallow and deep end. Low impact aerobic class to improve strength and flexibility through aerobic conditioning.

Deep Water Workout

A high intensity low impact class held mostly in deep water. Must be comfortable with a floatation belt.

Adult Beginner

Designed for the adult who has little knowledge of swimming. Content includes water adjustment and basic skill of swimming.

Adult Intermediate

Designed for the individual who needs work on front crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawl and sidestroke. Endurance swimming, diving and personal safety will be covered. Must be comfortable in the deep end.

American Red Cross Lifeguard / First Aid/ CPR/ AED 2 yr. Cert.

Trains candidates to certify in Red Cross lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen administration. Must be 15 yrs. old before the end of the class and be able to swim 300 yards continuously with a combination of freestyle and breaststroke. Must attend all classes. No makeups or refunds for missed and/or failed classes. Please refer to session brochure for availability.

Aquatic Fitness

Joints In Motion

A gentle exercise class that is designed to help joint strength and flexibility. This is a great class for beginners and people with arthritis.

Aqua Step

Increase your heart rate and intensify your workout without the strain on joints and muscles. Sturdy aqua shoes required.

Swimnastics

Class held in shallow end. Low impact aerobic class held in the shallow end of the pool, with focus on improving your strength and flexibility through aerobic conditioning.

Deep Water Workout

This is a high intensity low impact class taught predominately in the deep end (must be comfortable in deep water with the use of a flotation belt).

Aqua Fusion

Sequence of movements and breaths creating resistance in the water that develops strong, lean muscles and focuses on core for a total mind and body harmony. Focuses on joint mobility, range of motion and relaxation.

Aqua Box & Tone

Kickboxing adapted for water combined with water aerobics. High energy class. 40 min.

Aqua Boot Camp

Ten-hut! A platoon of shallow water training targeted at balance, coordination, cardio and training tactics. Advanced class.

Aqua Pool-lates

Pilates exercises adapted to the aquatic environment using noodles, water walking and breath techniques for a strong and centered core.

Aqua Zumba

Class held in the shallow end. A high energy dance theme water exercise class taught to Latin and international rhythms. Dance and splash your way to a healthier you.

Aqua Step & Tone

45 mins. in the shallow end. Aquatic resistance combined with a cardio workout. Class uses steps, noodle, weights and gloves. Sturdy aqua shoes required.

Aqua Flex & Tone

45 mins. in the shallow end. Class using weights, noodles and gloves. Weds 8:45am. Private half-hour, one-on-one swim lessons. Children 5+, adults & teens from beginners to advanced stroke development.

Adult Swim Lesson

14+ yrs

  • Beginner: For the fearful or inexperienced swimmer.
  • Intermediate: For the swimmer who is comfortable in deep water and can swim the length of the pool.

Adult Advanced/Stroke Development Class

Class focus is on continuing development of all 4 strokes, starts and turns.

Teen/Adult Beginner Swim Lessons

Don’t put off learning to swim for one more day! The Y’s Aquatics staff will help you gain the confidence you need to learn the strokes to swim into a healthier lifestyle. This class is for the non-swimmer and is taught in the Huber Pool.

Adult Intermediate Swim Lessons

This class focuses on increasing endurance in front crawl and backstroke. Adults will learn proper breaststroke and basic turns at the wall. During this class the instructor will introduce swimming with pace clock and encourage how to use water for fitness swimming.

Adult Pre Masters / Y Tri-Swimming

This is a great way for beginner or advanced swimmers to get back into swimming or want help training for competitive events. The workouts are non-weight bearing, and coaches are available to help swimmers refine stroke techniques, improve endurance and build skills.
