Y Teen Achievers

Grades 9 – 12

Y Teen Achievers is a youth development program which allows students between the ages of 14 – 18 set and pursue higher educational, personal, financial and career goals. The objectives of this program are to, provide role models whose success will inspire youth, expose youth to diverse career opportunities, assist youth in developing a positive sense of self, create channels of community involvement, and promote excellence. This group meets at the Freehold Borough YMCA Community Center, 40 Center Street, Freehold.

Lifeguard Certification Course

Ages 15 and up

Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn team work, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. You will receive a two-year First Aid and CPR/AED certification as well as a two-year Lifeguarding certification. Course includes resuscitation mask ONLY.

A student manual can be downloaded online at www.redcross.org, or it can be purchased at the Y for an additional fee while supplies last. Participants must pass the lifeguard pretest before signing up for available lifeguard training courses.

Class attendance is mandatory on all scheduled dates. There are no make-ups.

Registration is through the Welcome Center at your local branch.

 

Wellness Evaluations

Ages 14 and over

As you continue on your journey to a healthier lifestyle, you may choose to have your Wellness Plan evaluated. A member of the Wellness Team will review your plan and make recommendations to help take your routine to the next level. Evaluations can be scheduled at the Welcome Center of your local branch.

Participants must fill out a health history form, which can be found at the Welcome Center.

 

Group Fitness Class

The Y offers a variety of group fitness classes that are fun, motivating and challenging ways to fit exercise into your daily routine. Classes include indoor cycling, yoga, Pilates, aqua classes and Zumba®. Classes are free to all members of the Y, ages 14 and over. Members 14 – 17 are allowed to participate in classes during teen hours. Class space is limited, so please sign up prior to attending class. Sign-up sheets are available in designated areas on the day of the class. Schedules of all classes are available at the Welcome Center and online.
