We give youth an enriching, safe experience with caring staff and volunteers who model positive values that help build kids’ character.





New trips:  Jenkinson’s Aquarium, Liberty Science Center, Somerset Patriots

New events:  Life-size Angry Birds, Mario Kart Races, Hollywood Walk of Fame

Camping teaches self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership.  Y counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper.  Safety is our #1 priority!  Our counselors are hired based on their skills and receive extensive training in a variety of topics prior to the start of each camp season and are First Aid and CPR certified.

Just the right amount of swimming and sports for your child in a safe, nurturing environment where we incorporate our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into all that we do. Your child will learn new skills, develop lasting friendships — and most of all, have fun!

We offer up to 10 weeks with flexible days for children ages 4-15 years old. Extended care and lunch options are available. Our Summer Camp Program consists of daily swim instruction and recreational swim, sports instruction, trips, special events, games, and much more.

  •  Lunch w/sandwich, snack and water: $6.00 per day (no lunch orders on Wednesdays)

Counselor-in-Training Program

The program is available for children ages 14-15 and runs for 10 weeks starting June 25th through August 31st. Highlights of this program include RedWoods Training, First aid, Aquatics Safety, Day Camp Safety, and Hands-On experience with younger groups.

Shane Baldwin

Shane is a Howell resident and a graduate of Howell High School and West Chester University. Shane has been a YMCA team member for over 5 years . He has many areas of experience including camp, youth sports, and membership. Shane is also an assistant coach for Howell High School football team. He is a big NY Giants fan and enjoys sports , traveling, and enjoying time with his family and friends.
He is excited to lead the Freehold Day Camp and for all campers to have a fun, safe summer full of new experiences.

Alan Schpiro
Alan SchpiroCamp Supervisor
Alan has been working as a counselor since 2004. He has been the Leadership Training Coordinator at Camp since 2015. Alan graduated from Kean University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Physical Education K-12. During the school year, he is a Health and Physical Education Teacher for Hatikvah International Academy Charter School in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Alan’s leadership skills have been evident through the many years that he has worked with children.
