Camping teaches self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership.  Y counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper.  Safety is our #1 priority!  Our counselors are hired based on their skills and receive extensive training in a variety of topics prior to the start of each camp season and are First Aid and CPR certified.

Just the right amount of swimming and sports for your child in a safe, nurturing environment where we incorporate our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into all that we do. Your child will learn new skills, develop lasting friendships — and most of all, have fun!

We offer up to 10 weeks with flexible days for children ages 5-15 years old. Extended care and lunch options are available. Our Summer Camp Program consists of daily swim instruction and recreational swim, sports instruction, trips, special events, games, and much more.

  •  Lunch w/sandwich, snack and water: $6.00 per day (no lunch orders on Wednesdays)

Counselor-in-Training Program

The program is available for children ages 14-15 and runs for 10 weeks. Highlights of this program include RedWoods Training, First aid, Aquatics Safety, Day Camp Safety, and Hands-On experience with younger groups.


Frequently Asked Questions

What are the ages for your camp?
•Our camp is for ages 5-15 (Children entering Kindergarten through 10th grade). All children are grouped by the grade they are entering in September.

What are the hours for camp?
•We provide half and full day options for camp. Half day hours are from 9:00 am—1:00 pm, full day hours are 9:00 am—4:00 pm.

Do you provide extended care hours?
•We have before care that begins at 7:00 am, and after care that goes until 6:30 pm. Extended care services are $10 per day for each, or $15 per day for both.

Do you provide lunch?
•We do provide an outside lunch at an extra cost of $6 per day, but every camper is more than welcome to bring a lunch from home

Can I make changes to my enrollment?
•Yes, we try our absolute best to accommodate the changes you may need. However, these changes cannot be guaranteed. If you need a change to your child’s registration, you can complete a ‘Change Request Form’ found at the Welcome Desk.

Can I enroll during the summer?
• Our camp enrollment is on a first come first serve basis and some groups do tend to fill up quickly. However, if we have openings we would be happy to enroll more campers during the summer.

What is the counselor to camper ratio?
•For groups K-3rd grade there is a 1:6 ratio, while grades 4-8 have a 1:8 ratio.

Is there trained medical personnel on site?
•Our staff is certified in a high level of American Red Cross CPR and to trained treat minor injuries (scrapes and bruises). In the event of an emergency, the staff is instructed to call 911 and then notify the parent/guardian.

What kind of activities do you have at camp?
•We have a wide variety of activities for our campers that include, but are not limited to: swimming, sports instruction, special events, arts & crafts, themed activities, shows, trips & much more!

Do all the campers go swimming?
•Yes, we have two swim periods I each day (one for half day campers). All of our swim periods are supervised by our highly qualified and trained YMCA swim instructors and lifeguards.

What if my child cannot swim?
•We will teach them! Any camper who cannot swim independently will swim with a personal flotation device (“bubble”) until they are ready to swim on their own.

Is there a bus service?
•No, there is no bus service to and from camp. Parents are responsible forgetting their child to and from camp.  We will provide bussing for trips throughout the summer.

Are there any special events at camp?
•Throughout the summer we follow our original theme calendar, which has different exciting activities, shows, and projects for our campers to enjoy.

What should I do if my child is not coming to camp?
•Parents/Guardians are asked to inform the Freehold YMCA as far in advance as possible if your child cannot make it to camp.

What do the campers do if it’s excessively hot or raining outside?
•Not a problem! Our staff is always prepared with an indoor schedule in the event we cannot be outside.

Do you offer any discounts?
•We offer a 5% sibling discount if you are sending more than one child to camp. The first child would be full price, while each additional child will receive 5% off. We also offer a 5% paid in full discount if you elect to pay your full balance upon registration.
