Six in ten Americans live with at least one chronic disease, like heart disease and stroke, cancer, or diabetes. Research shows that people with Parkinson’s Disease experience significant benefits from cycling regularly, including improving overall motor function, reducing tremors and rigidity, improving mood and cognitive functions, and the vast benefits of social connections. Hear from YMCA Pedaling for Parkinson’s program participants on how cycling has helped with symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease.

I heard about the program at the YMCA. I decided to give it a try. After 2 weeks I feel that my legs have improved significantly. My stamina is much better and I’m slowly but surely getting overall better.” – Leo Kinslow

I’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s since 2015. One of the things I really appreciate is that for the last several months I have had severe leg pain which made it difficult to get around. But since we’ve been doing the bike, I’ve been getting stronger. And while I still have leg pain, its because of the exercise not from the Parkinson’s. So I’m grateful for that.”  – Willy Rodriguez
