When a high school teacher tells you, “Our teens are broken”, you respond with programs that aim to empower every at-risk child to reach boldly toward their dreams.

The Y’s Arts & Outreach team serves thousands of teens through enrichment programs that give kids self-esteem, prepares them for college, engages them in civic and social responsibility and helps them achieve to their full potential. Our youth are the real Heroes, and the Y is thrilled to nurture these young leaders, and follow them into bright futures.

Y Achievers is a college readiness and career exploration program designed to help under-served, first generation, college-bound and minority teens to achieve higher education through experiences, exposure and empowerment. Y Achievers program helps youth raise their academic standards, develop a positive sense of self, build character, explore diverse college and career options, meet and interact with professionals who serve as role models.

The Community YMCA launched the Achievers program in 2006. At the conclusion of 2018 the program will have served over 1,400 youth and teens from over:
> 13 high schools in Monmouth & Ocean County
> 5 middle school in Monmouth & Ocean County
> Numerous churches, agencies and other non-profits

During the 2017-18 school year, the program served 177 youth and teens from Neptune, Red Bank, Union Beach, Keyport, Belmar and Asbury Park. We are proud to share that this school year, 90% of the participating Achievers were accepted and enrolled in college and 100% of the 2016 and 2017 groups were accepted into college.

Congratulations to Y Achievers Class of 2018. The Y is here for you!
