The loss of a loved one is tragic, and even more so when traumatic loss impacts children.

In 2017, the Traumatic Loss Coalition coordinated by the Y’s Counseling & Social Services branch provided 24 direct responses to school districts throughout Monmouth County, including 338 service hours of trauma support for sudden deaths and suicides. School personnel, mental health clinicians, juvenile justice personnel, law enforcement officials, social service agencies, and child welfare workers are brought together to assist the school community.

The Y’s Traumatic Loss Coalition suicide prevention programs and an integrative support system help to promote healing and resiliency for kids and families.

The Y is here for all with safe and confidential services that strengthen family life and individual growth, so that nothing stands between a child and success. Our team of caring and certified Y professionals are licensed to serve as counselors to youth, families and schools, specializing in social work, clinical counseling, and alcohol and drug counseling.
