I’ve been fortunate enough to work for the YMCA of Western Monmouth County for over 10 years now.
I have a BS in Nutritional Science from University of Delaware. Before coming to the Y, a majority of my work experience was in Clinical Dietetics and Food Service Management at long-term care facilities.
I am a Personal Trainer as well as a Group Exercise Instructor.
In addition, I have numerous continuing education certifications in various specialities. Ranging from Healthy Senior Living, Sports Nutrition for Athletes, Kids Fitness, Managing Stress through Relaxation and Motivating People to stay Fit.
As a long time exercise enthusiast I understand the importance of mixing up ones physical activities to prevent boredom.
I have specialized trainings in a multitude of fitness areas including High Intensity Training, Core Strength and Balance Training, Kick Boxing, Body Toning and Shaping and Spin Cycling to highlight some.
On a personal note, as a wife and mother of two active sons I can appreciate the challenges some may face balancing daily life and physical fitness.

Dr. Carole B. Reiss

Former Physical and Health Education Teacher at NYC. Dept. Of Education.
Personal Trainer, and Sports and Nutrition Specialist. I also have my PhD. in K-12 Leadership.
I am dedicated to helping young athletes as well as families, seniors and Special Populations receive their fitness and nutrition goals. I work closely with the individual and design workout programs that are fun, yet challenging and provide results that last over a lifetime for dedicated participants. I have coached Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Tennis, Bowling, Track and Field and Fitness. I provide the needed education to inform the athlete and fitness enthusiast with the proper form and cardiovascular endurance training that will also infuse muscular strength and development. I have been a trainer at the YMCA since 2001, and I have coached many people to success. I also train students ages 6-21 Basketball NBA Fitness techniques and I have started NBA Fit in Staten Island and New Jersey.

Larissa Manzi

I am a W.I.T.S certified personal trainer here at the YMCA. Some of you may recognize me from the fitness floor , or as your dry-land coach. My mission is simple; to create the ultimate environment for people to transform and unlock the happiest, healthiest and most confident version of themselves.I aim to equip you with not only the skills, but also the knowledge of how to reach your fitness and health goals.We are capable of achieving such incredible things and as a trainer I want to push your limits and unlock your potential.

I fell in love with fitness at a young age when I began figure skating and continued for 10 years. Through that time period I spent time on ice training and off ice conditioning. I competed through UFSA and did synchronized shows.I also coached tiny tots (toddlers learning to skate). I started power lifting 4 years ago and loved testing my strength. It was a huge building block for my lifestyle and completely changed me mentally as well as physically. Instead of wanting to be the smallest version of myself I wanted to be the strongest version of myself. I hope to guide you through your fitness journey and help you change your health goals into a reality!

 

Lou Tortorelli

I have been a certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise for the past 26 years.  My experience lies primarily in using progressive resistance exercise, free weights and selected machine apparatus, for the purposes of overall personal improvement. I have also been working in the field of education for the past 28 years, with an appreciation of a strong mind in a strong body.

I have trained youngsters, seniors, and myself to participate in competitive weightlifting events, and am a strong believer that aspiring for strength and health provides great benefits in all aspects of one’s life.

I am a member of the United States All Around Weightlifting Association, as well as the Association of Oldetime Barbell Barbell and Strongmen, offering a great appreciation of the history of physical culture.  I look forward to the opportunity of helping you to achieve your goals.

Several years ago I was overweight and out of shape, and I had no idea what it meant to live healthfully. Over time I learned how to live and love an active and healthy lifestyle, and I have passed on this knowledge to many people. Now I’d like to pass it on to you!  I have been working on the fitness floor at the Wellness Center, and I enjoy engaging with our members every day.
